RSG GTN650 Black Screen during startup - rockandrollfish@yahoo.com - 08-18-2026
I’m having a problem with my RSG GTN650 going to black screen during loading of MSFS2020. It seems to display as expected and the touch screen works when running the TDS software by itself before starting MSFS2020.. The buttons and dials work as expected after loading however the display goes black when the TDS interface and RSG interface load up during the MSFS2020 startup. I did try adding the Standalone.txt file without success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the TDS and Realsim gear software without success.

Does the GTN650Xi work when you are in flight with the desired aircraft?
This is correct behavior, while MSFS loads and no aircraft is selected, the screen will go black, but it should restore onee entering the flight.

No, the screen stays black after entering the flight. This is all quite strange as it worked perfectly for about a week. Mainly running it in compatibility mode as not very many of my airplanes actually have a GT 650 in them. It was actually working quite well with that too. I was flying Coronado 182s. I haven’t installed any new software or anything like that. The pop-up Window for the GTN 650 goes black during boot up and never returns with the display information on it.

Hello,
In this instance we recommend running the Carenado C182Q which also has a GTN650Xi, otherwise the TDS GTNXi Pro will not load a GTN650Xi if the panel has a VC integrated GTN750Xi only.
You can remove the standalone.txt file and use the MSFS Pop-out Panel Manager to pop out and position the GTN650Xi screen to the RSG display.

Thank you for your quick response. I will try that and see if I have luck using that method with pop out panel manager. It is a little perplexing as I was able to use the GTN 650 with the TDS software last week with aircraft that did not have a 650 and it worked well. I’m not sure what changed.
Just for clarification. I should be able to use the TDS software as a standalone GPS on some aircraft even if they don’t have a GTN 650 in them correct? It’s sort of depends on if there’s support for the TDS GTN 650 software I just recently bought the Coronado 172 which has GTN 650 SUPPORT and it was also working previously. I really shouldn’t have to use pop-up manager should I? Don’t get me wrong, I will certainly try that as I want to be able to use the TDS software and my GTN 650.

Did you update the TDS GTNXi Pro from an older version to V1.3.1.5 sometime between last week and today? As we have performed some changes internally quite some time ago, so you may have been using an outdated version.
Yes, on any non TDS GTNXi Pro integrated aircraft, you can keep on using the interface windows. However for a VC integrated aircraft we limit the GTN Xi units to whatever is integrated.

I’ve only had the RSG GTN650 and the TDS software since the latter part of July shortly after attending Oshkosh. If I still have problems with the software would it help with support on your end to upload a video?

I ended up doing a system, restore to an earlier date last night. Now everything is working as expected with my flight simulator and the TDS software thanks again for being so responsive and trying to help Help.
