User waypoints file location
#1
Hi,
I have just bought and installed the TDS GTNXi in X-plane. Much better than RXP I must say, though a little more blurry.

Got some questions:
1.Where the file containing user waypoints is located? I wanna make a backup of this file cause I have to make many waypoints as airfields - I have plenty small private arfiels made by me.
2. Is there any way to subscribe info about eventual updates of TDS GTNXi? How should I know about them?

Regards.

Hello,

The user waypoints are stored in the system flash memory which is unreadable, in a per-unit configuration.
C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\Navigator_XI_1\winfs_mount\emmc0
The user_wpt .dat files (there are multiple files)

The flash memory is saved on a per unit basis:
Navigator_XI_1 for GTN750Xi Unit 1
Navigator_XI_2 for GTN750Xi Unit 2
Navigator_XI_3 for GTN650Xi Unit 1
Navigator_XI_4 for GTN650Xi Unit 2

Edit: we are not sure how this will work out in future GTNXi PC Trainer versions, so this is a disclaimer.

As soon as a new TDS GTNXi is available, upon startup, after confirming the TDS GTNXi license pop-up message, a new message will appear notifying you of the new TDS GTNXi version. In addition you can start the TDS GPS Manager and check for new versions.

Oh, OK. Whatever you'll do the method of restoring the user waypoints will be appreciated. Moving from RXP GTN to TDS RXP I've lost a lot of waypoints. My research told me there's no way to import them?

Hello,

Indeed, by backing up the files mentioned above (on a per unit basis) should provide a safety net, for the future.

In addition, you also have the option to manually define user waypoints as part of a text file that can be imported by the GTNXi unit, this is described in the TDS PDF manual.

Yes, I know I can make a text file but it's not a way of transferring RXP GTN waypoints to TDS. So IMO the better and more funny way will be to fly at these airfields once again to mark them as waypoints once again ;-)

Indeed, we hope that the method mentioned above will help you in the future to backup the user waypoints that you have created.
